Talented individuals have what we call a 'rage to master.' In the world of sport, that can commonly be thought of like 'hungry,' 'relentless,' 'driven,' and many others.
When an athlete has a 'rage to master' themselves and their sport, it is quite apparent. They ask their coach for extra drills, they stay after practice, they hold their teammates accountable, they watch their sport at the highest level consistently, and they seem to have a motor that is always running.
Some athletes with this mindset will say things like, "I just want to come back better than last year," "learning from my mistakes is how I get closer to my goals," or "I just love this game."

Passion (def.): a strong inclination toward an activity that individuals love, find important, and in which they invest time and energy.
Perhaps the seemingly obvious trait of a talented athlete is their passion. There are two types of passion, harmonious and obsessive. Harmonius passion is when your passion is a choice. Obsessive passion is when your passion is forced.
Although we can categorize these two subtypes of passion, the display of passion is what we are most familiar with!
